“Hi, Mom. What’s up? Can you hear me now?” Ted joked as soon as he had a signal again.

“Ted? Oh my God!” Ann screamed into her phone. “Where are you? What have you been doing? Is your brother all right?”

Ron was in the living room and jumped up from the couch when he heard his wife’s screamed interrogation, hitting his leg on the coffee table in the process. He ran over to Ann and squeezed his head next to hers to hear Ted’s voice.

“Where are you Ted? Is Owen with you?” Ron screamed into Ann’s phone. “Are you both okay?”

“Yeah, we’re fine, Dad. Of course Owen’s with me. Is something, uh…wrong?”

“Where are you? Where the heck are you, son?” Ron asked over and over again.

“We’re at the metro park, but our car is gone. We don’t have a ride home. Can you come get us?”

“We’ll be there in fifteen minutes. Just stay on the line with me, honey,” Ann said. “Don’t hang up, no matter what!”

They ran to their car in such a hurry that they forgot to grab their keys.

“Go get them! Hurry, Ron!” Ann shouted. “We’ve got to go!”

After Denise watch Ron frantically run back in the house and grab his keys, then storm out to his car and peel out, she got in her car and drove home. In all the excitement, they forgot she was even there.

Ron did not think to bring his cell phone with him so he could call Officer Friend to let her know the good news. He drove maniacally through town while Ann kept Ted on the line until they got there.

“Don’t go anywhere! Stay where you are!” she kept telling at Ted.

When they saw their boys, they wrapped their arms around them and didn’t let go for ten minutes. The twins just stared at each other, not really knowing what to make of it all.

“We went from Terreni to Bizzaro World,” Owen whispered to Ted.

“Oh my God, boys! I’m so, so happy to see you,” Ann said, sobbing and patting them down, as if to make sure nothing was missing. “Please don’t ever do that again. I-I can’t take it!”

“I love you boys so much,” Ron said. He closed his eyes and began to weep. “Please forgive me for how I have treated you.”

“Um, sure, Dad, but, uh…what are you guys talking about?,” Ted asked. “What’s going on with you two? Also, do you know where my car is?”

“Dad, what do you mean, how you’ve treated us?” Owen asked. “I don’t get it.”

It took Ron a few minutes to pull himself together. “I’ll tell you back at the house,” he said. “Anyway, where have you guys been?”

Owen looked at Ted. “We’ll tell you that back at the house too,” he said.

On the way home, Ann called Officer Friend, and her sons overheard her tell the officer that the boys were okay.

“Mom, you called the police?” Owen asked nervously. “What for?”

“We didn’t know where you were. You were supposed to be camping up north, but then we found your car at the metro park with all your gear still inside.
